Please read this email I wrote to a senior management representative. You do not want to have Lasik done at any of the existing Lasik Vision Institute's... trust me. It's obvious why so many branches have gone out of business. The Senior Exec slash lawyer who fields complaints didn't even have the decency to respond to my email below.

Barry,

I would like to know whether my cornea has regenerated to a level in which it would be safe to proceed with the enhancement. I have taken the time to go to many lasik vision institutes over the years in hopes my cornea has increased and I could move forward with the promised enhancement. When the first year was coming to an end I addressed the results, side effects and enhancement payment with corporate and at least one of your branches (Carmel, IN). I asked if the enhancement procedure could be extended at no additional charge since I was ready and willing, but the doctor was reluctant to do a follow up procedure on another doctor's patient. He also stated my cornea levels may be too low and thought it was best to wait, instructing me to give it a few years and check back. I informed the doctor and the branch my enhancement policy was to expire and considering the circumstances I would like a refund or a long term extension. The doctor told me it would be years before the cornea would regenerate, if ever at all and this is why I specifically asked for a long term extension to my enhancement policy. I was told this would be granted and to check back at one of the branches I am familiar with down the road. The extension was to be stored in my file and entered into the computer system so I would not have a hassle explaining with future appointments. I was assured this was would be done.

I have a unique understanding of how these offices do business from my multiple visits. I and many other upstanding citizens have been told one thing and then gotten another. Whether it's the lasik surgery ultimately provided, advertised rate, good vs. bad lasik candidates, side effects, enhancement promises, selling tear duct plugs, or anything else for an additional commission. The subcontractors of these branches and corporate need to take a hard look at the peoples lives they are impacting and review business ethics.

It's quite alarming to me that the new staff at the Carmel branch and more specifically the "sales manager" Tige thinking my enhancement had expired immediately went into close mode telling me it looked as if the procedure could be done, but I would need to pay again. Throwing caution to the wind... To the point I'm sure he would have taken payment today and then "if" the doctor said no to the enhancement not refunded my money. When your pay is based on how many people you sign up and you seem to have few morals I suppose this can happen.

I am asking for the company to be fair and show it uses good business practices. The cornea results would be good to know, but honestly I expect to be refunded the money paid for the denied enhancement.

Considering I was not provided with the custom "more expensive" lasik procedure I originally paid for, allowed to have the surgery with a thin cornea, now have dry eyed syndrome and bad night vision… I don't feel I'm asking too much.

Regards,

Adam

These people are headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida. I must have received 100 spam messages from them over the past several months.

I routinely get one per day. I block one e-mail and the company changes their message to another e-mail add'y. I have gone into various individual messages and prompted "Unsubscribe" to no avail. Here is their contact information: LASIK Vision Institute, LLC 2000 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd (561) 965-****.

I finally got hold of a company rep today and told them that this kind of spam, though widespread, is illegal.

I'm not sure how much luck one would have with the Federal Trade Commission but there's always the possibility of going to court and filing a cease and desist order. That way there's a public record and paper trail in the event some federal or state agency takes action in the future; or a class action suit is filed.

I am sorry so many people are seeming to suffer from this poorly run business. I have spent much time driving to the Carmel office and have been billed for surgery only to find out on the day of the surgery that the procedure will not be lasik, but PRK which requires much down time.

I had not been told that the procedure may change at the last minute, in fact I had already been told at the pre-op eval. that lasik would be the best procedure. I am not happy that the down time for this 'changed procedure of the last minute' would end up being days, which I had not planned for since lasik was suppose to require no down time. Other lasik businesses had told me I would be a candidate for lasik not PRK, so it is odd that this surgeon said different.

I will be trying to get the few hundred back that I have paid and not going to them.

I am receiving 2 and 3 spam emails a day from this company.

They use various addresses to send from, so I cannot block them. Needless to say, I would never use the services, ever.

The spam I get from these quacks is beyond belief. NO reputable company, especially a health care provider, will "stuff" junk mail solicitations in your email box nor will they solicit their services via snail mail.

There is absolutely no way to block these buffoons from sending their unwanted ads via email. There's no link in their junk emails to have the ads stopped being sent to your email address either.

Lasik Vision Institute is a scam, period. My neighbor is an independent optometrist and he's told me some absolute horror stories of some of his patients who've rendered Lasik Vision Institute's services only to have a very negative outcome. Some damage that's irreversible.

I have left numerous email with Lasik vision Institute demanding that they delete my email address from their sender list. I never once gotten a reply to my demands. I still get their ads, maybe as many as three ads per week.

Lasik Vision Institute needs to be investigated for fraud.

Any company that has to send out so many spam emails soliciting their services is enough to raise a paramount of skepticism. I've gotten so many junk ads from Lasik Vision Institute that I wrote several emails to these clown's asking them to cease and desist. It has never been successful.

From what I've read and heard from actual customer's who've rendered services from Lasik Vision Institute, the negative experiences leave a lengthy paper trail of disdain.

It'll only be a matter of time before the entire business ceases to exist. :(
